Activities of Council

(As per Upazila Parishad Act, 1998):

01) To make five year and different term development plan;

02) To implement the programs of various government departments handed over to the council and to supervise and coordinate the activities of those departments;

03) Construction, repair and maintenance of inter-union connecting roads;

04) Upazila Parishad undertakes small scale irrigation projects as directed by the government to ensure optimal utilization of surface water resources and implementation;

05) Ensuring public health, nutrition and family planning services;

06) Improving sanitation and drainage system and taking measures for supply of potable drinking water;

07) (a) Provide motivation and support for the expansion of education at the upazila level;

      (b) Supervise the activities of the concerned institutions and improve the quality of secondary education and madrasa education activities  provide assistance;

6) To undertake activities for the establishment and development of cottage and small scale industries;

9) To provide assistance and co-ordinate the work of co-operative societies and non-governmental voluntary organizations;

10) To provide and implement support for women, children's social welfare and youth, sports and cultural activities;

11) To take and implement activities for the development of agriculture, cattle, fisheries and forest resources;

12) Discuss the activities of the police department including the development of law and order situation in the upazila and regularly to the higher authorities daily payments;

13)  a) To create, implement and implement self-employment programs for self-employment and poverty alleviation.

       b) To provide necessary assistance to the government in the implementation of government programs in this regard;

14) Coordinating and inspecting the development activities of the Union Parishad and providing necessary assistance;

15) Taking public and other preventive measures against the organization of crimes such as violence against women and children;

16) Terrorism, theft, robbery, smuggling, drug use, etc. Take action;

17) To undertake other activities including social forestry for the purpose of environment protection and development;

18) Other functions assigned by the Government from time to time.
